Grade 7/8  In class - focus on different types of questions
Literal Questions (answers are directly stated in text or "on the line")
Inferential Questions (answers are in the text but harder to find. You need to read "between the lines" using clues and your own knowledge to respond)
Evaluative Questions (answers are based on opinion, judgment, they are "beyond the lines" using evidence from the text)
Nelson Literacy 7b/8b -  understanding voice
Authors use voice (how the written word sounds) to influence purpose, tone and mood they set within their writing and about their own personality. As a writer the use of detail and examples demonstrates great knowledge about a topic. Use of descriptive language (using senses and feelings) helps readers connected and feel the way the author intends it to be.
