Literacy Writing - Compare and Contrast Essay - Rubric and Sample provided in class Goal: To compare and contrast a novel with a movie, focussing on three elements of a story-block pattern or point by point writing as both acceptable Structure of the essay was discussed Intro-Paragraph 1: - introduces topic and main ideas of the essay - it identifies the thesis which briefly outlines the three main ideas that will be presented in body paragraphs within the writing piece Paragraphs 2, 3, and 4:  - these paragraphs identify the three main ideas mentioned in the thesis - it is written in the order presented in the thesis statement - each paragraph has a lead topic sentence which addresses which main idea will be the focus of that paragraph - within each separate paragraph, the writer provides detail, by giving supporting details and using evidence from the text to elaborate their main idea Conclusion-Paragraph 5: -this paragraph is a wrap up of the entire essay - it summarizes the main ideas and restates the thesis in a new way.separate paragraphs all of which have supporting details that relate to the topic sentence in each of the paragraphs 2, 3, or 4 Reading - Oral - Visual - Media- Book Cover Page for your science fiction -must include: title of your story, author (this is you), and character display in fashion of the future and related to Mr. Vago's art assignment Financial Literacy - Novel Study - Bring in something to read for the month of May.
