Reminders
 
-permission forms for Roy Thomson Hall due FRIDAY
 


- fully school uniform consists of either a plain white or navy blue shirt and navy blue pants
- parents please review and sign the opening student handbook provided on the first day of school

enrica.bucci@tcdsb.org or stsimonbucci@gmail.com as well as usbs, are soft copy methods for students to submit assignments
- other options are to hand write or print out assignments, these forms of submitting work are considered hard copy

homework provided in Ms. Astudillo's classes (Math, History, Geography, Art/Drama/Dance) will be on her blog (her blog address was given out during her class)
- homework provided in Ms. Bucci classes (Reading, Writing, Media Literacy, Financial Literacy, Science, Physical Education/Health) can be viewed at www.stsimonbucci.blogspot.ca

-Don't forget students will be writing letters home at the end of every month, teacher comments will also be provided within those letters.  These letters have to be read and signed by the parents and brought back to school.  A notification will be put on this blog as to when they need to be signed and returned.

- With your permission, students maybe allowed to bring in their home computer or other electronic devices for class work purposes only in the areas of Literacy, Science, and Health.

Homework

 

 
Grade 8
Literacy/Language
     Writing  -  hwk: "Flipped Classroom"  Students are to do some research to find out some information about what a descriptive, a narrative and an expository paragraph is.  Identify special features of each, what does each type of paragraph look like (describe) and bring in some samples that can be discussed and analysed in class tomorrow.
   
     Reading  -  Nelson Literacy 8a
In class students worked on making connections to text to text using the title on page 12 "Two Islands" and the visuals throughout the rest of the text (to page 20).  Here students need to make reference not only to the text that they are reading, but to related to other forms of texts, like novels, magazines, picture books, brochures, blogs, newspaper articles etc. Individual conferences about students responses have begun.  If students in Ms. Bucci's class did not complete in class, it's homework.
       
     Novel Study -  Conference in class regarding groups for Book Talks and possible book choice.  Please note students have been give choice to either select a novel from our class library or from the monthly scholastics (with parent consent).  Each member of the group needs to have their own copy as reading will be part of the students' daily homework routine Monday to Thursday.  Scholastics money due Friday for the purchase of books.
