Literacy Writing -  Reading - Nelson Literacy 8a In-Class responses to asking and answering questions using strategies taught yesterday  Ask Questions You can ask questions either before, during or even after reading a text. By using a strategy like this it will help you clarify your understanding of the text. Here are three questions that you can ask. Literal or  “On the line” Questions The answer is stated directly and it is found on the page. It is determined in one or certain places through the text. You can ask yourself a question like “What does the text say about the setting” Inferential or “Between the lines” Questions Questions that you have to connect clues or information in the text to your prior knowledge in order to determine the final answer. Sometimes you will find the answer within the text later on. You can infer information about the main character. Evaluative or “Beyond the lines” Questions Questions about the logic quality or perspective of the text. Your answers to these questions judge the text by using evidence and your own prior knowledge.
